Kalinga all set for 16th Matagoan Festival

KALINGA -- Tabuk City is all set for its 10th founding anniversary and 16th Matagoan Festival from Wednesday to Saturday, June 21 to 24.

The four-day festivities will open with an ecumenical thanksgiving service followed by a socio-cultural program at the city gym.

Highlighting the annual celebration is the search for Ms. Tabuk City 2017 with 18 beauties vying for the title.

As gesture of recognition, the sectors on farming, cooperatives, tourism, trading and local produce are given a day for wonders of wealth. The day also honors citizens of Tabuk who received awards in their respective areas of endeavors.

To showcase the city’s indigenous and agriculture products will be the Patawid trade fair organized by the Trade and Industry provincial office.

The speaker for the day is Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.

The City’s rich ethnic culture will be on center-stage during the street dance parade on Friday, June 23, with Mary Liza Seguerra, chairperson of the Film Development Council, giving the keynote address.

The guest of honor during the city’s foundation day anniversary on Saturday, June 24, will be Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

As part of the annual tradition, Tabuk City’s sister cities and municipalities are invited to take part in the celebration.

Other significant events of the celebration are the holding of jobs fair, skills and livelihood fairs and Professional Regulation Commission mobile licensing and registration.

Mayor Ferdinand Tubban declared June 23 a special non-working holiday in the entire city to enjoin schools and government agencies participate in the celebration. (PIA)
