DPWH 7 sets 3-day closure of Mananga Bridge 3

STARTING tomorrow night, motorists who are planning to use the Cebu South Coastal Road are advised to brace for heavy traffic.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 announced that it will be temporarily closing one side of the Mananga Bridge 3 in Talisay City for the installation of two expansion joints.

Engr. Leslie Anthony Molina, DPWH Second Engineering District head, said that the southbound lane of the Mananga bridge will be closed to traffic starting 10 p.m. tomorrow.

It is expected to be reopened to traffic by Monday night.

Molina said that the DPWH decided to implement the repairs tomorrow to take advantage of the long weekend, after Malacañang declared June 26, Monday, as a regular holiday to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Molina said that the bridge, however, may be opened to commuters on Monday afternoon if the contractor PLD Construction could fast-track the work from Friday night to Sunday.

Molina said that there is a need to replace the bridge’s expansion joints to ensure that it is safe to use.

Molina said that while the southbound side of the bridge is under repair, its northbound side will be opened to two-way traffic.

The City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority will deploy enforcers in the area.
