Sungduan: Autism help

A FREE seminar on Son-Rise strategies that will help parents deal with children with autism is set this Saturday, June 24 in Baguio City.

Dubbed Autism Help: Parent Sharing (Free Sharing & Q & A), the activity which will start from 9 a.m. to 12 noon will focus on teaching simple and effective Son-Rise strategies on how parents should deal with autism including the use of verbal and non-verbal communication and ways on how to interact socially and become more flexible.

Presented by A Child’s Dream Foundation Inc., the seminar to be held at Baguio Pines City Lions Club along Gov. Pack Road is open to all parents, teachers and adult caregivers of children of all ages challenged by Autism, Asperger’s which is known as a "high-functioning" type of the autism spectrum disorder according to webmd.com, Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), and other related development difficulties.

A Child’s Dream Foundation is the Summer Capital’s first therapy center for children with special needs. Dream stands for Develop self-reliance, Respect the uniqueness of each child, Empower parents to be the core of intervention, Advocate for all children with special needs, Motivate the child to reach his full potential.

The school executive director Mita Angela Dimalanta said the event’s speaker will be Young Creative Minds Preschool directress Michelle Lichauco-Tambunting, a Bachelor of Arts degree holder major in psychology and graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, USA. She finished her master’s degree in education from Harvard University.

D.R.E.A.M. Foundation was born from the vision of Dr. Francis Xavier Dimalanta, a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician and Active Consultant of the Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health at St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City and Quezon City.

It may be difficult to handle but the challenging behavior of children with autism can be dealt with properly by knowing new strategies from the expert which the seminar can offer.
