IN THE light of the recent Comelec En Banc decision disqualifying incumbent Mabalacat City Mayor Marino Morales and installing "second placer" Crisostomo Garbo as his replacement.
Supporters and followers of the embattled mayor were, of course dumbfounded and confused and those of the soon-to-be proclaimed heir apparent profuse with premature shouting and celebration.
Employees, whose tenure is co-terminous with that of the mayor are apprehensive that they would be eased out or replaced by those from the team of the person about to replace the sitting mayor Boking. Everyone wanted to analyze and interpret Comelec's decision, copies of which were obediently furnished by Garbo's men on each office/department at city hall in Xevera. Garbo, on the other hand, made sure his incoming occupancy of the mayor's office is announced and made known widely through media and radio interviews.
At the other extreme, regular employees who work honestly and faithfully fulfill their tasks have nothing to fear of being eased out of their jobs. They know only too well of the contents of the Panunumpa ng Kawani which inspires them to serve and serve well, with a heart.
Always, the tenet to observe and follow at the city hall is unity, solidarity and teamwork as repeatedly enunciated by Mayor Boking.
Unity of purpose bonds, divisiveness repels. The workers at City Hall should stand united and solid under one flag, one vision and one goal. This way, much can be accomplished.
