DepEd seeks donations for displaced Marawi students

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Education (DepEd) is seeking assistance and donations from kind-hearted individuals, companies and good Samaritans for displaced students in war-torn Marawi City.

The DepEd said that as it is not clear when the Marawi City siege will end, it is calling for donations for some 20,000 displaced students there who are in need of school kits.

According to the DepEd, one school kit contains a backpack, an umbrella, five pieces notebooks (no spring, 80 leaves), a clear plastic envelope, a piece of glue stick, a pair of scissors, one short brown envelope, a short folder, pencil case, two reams pad paper, three pieces pencils, a ruler, a box of 12 colors crayon, a rubber eraser, a pencil sharpener and one piece each red, blue and black ballpens.

The kit also includes a lunch box, a water bottle and a throw pillow with case (20 x 20 inches).

The DepEd said each kit costs approximately P2,000 pesos but any amount or in-kind donations are welcome.

Donations may be sent to the DepEd Central Office, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City c/o External Partnerships Service or Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Service.

For cash donations, the Landbank account name is DepEd DRRM Calamity Fund with Account Number: 3342-1012-82. (PR)
