Habal-habal driver shot dead in Barili

AN UNIDENTIFIED robber shot dead a motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver in the grassy area of Barangay Tal-ot, Barili, southern Cebu, at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, June 22.

Police identified the casualty as Andreo Gemota Plarisan, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City.

The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Investigators, led by Police Officer 3 Rommel Patalinghug, learned that the gunman was the victim's passenger.

Police believed the passenger was a robber who tried to steal Plarisan's earnings and motorcycle.

When Plarisan resisted, the passenger shot him and dragged him into a grassy lot. The gunman then stole the victim's motorcycle.

An empty shell and a broken side mirror were recovered from the crime scene.

Patalinghug's team brought Plarisan to Barili District Hospital, but the doctor declared the victim dead on arrival.
