PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte wished the Muslim Filipinos happiness, peace and prosperity as they celebrate Eid'l Fitr or Feast of Ramadan.
In his Eid'l Fitr message, Duterte noted that the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal always brings great joy to the Muslim brothers and sisters.
"This signifies the successful journey towards spiritual purification through a month-long fasting," he said.
On this "special day," he urged the Muslim Filipinos to remember to thank Allah for bestowing upon them the resolve, courage and fortitude to obey His commandments during the blessed month of Ramadan.
"May this renewed sense of spiritual accomplishment give you the strength and courage to cultivate our communities. In time when all odds seem stacked against us, it is our willpower and faith that will always see us through," Duterte said.
"Let us channel our energies towards fostering national unity-because dedicating our lives to the betterment of humanity is the best way to demonstrate our devotion to God," he stressed.
He called on the Muslim Filipino to work toward building a society that "is grounded on love, mutual respect and understanding."
