CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Hundreds of culture and heritage advocates gathered at the Laus Group Event Centre in this city over the weekend to help build the Kapampangan Cultural Center through a concert for a cause.
The concert, which was initiated by the Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc. or FLKI, featured the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers (Madz), the Nightingales and The Sacerdos, Pampanga's singing priests, with the special participation of Alfred Samonte and Lisette Laus-Velasco.
The proposed Kapampangan Cultural Center will rise along Capitol Boulevard in Barangay Sto. Niño, City of San Fernando, in a building which was then used as an annex of the Jose Abad Santos High School. The said building also served as the site of the University of the Philippines Extension Program in San Fernando, Pampanga until floods hit the City in 1995.
With the cultural center, the rich Kapampangan cultural heritage will now have a fitting home to call its own.
“We need more funds to complete the proposed museum of our ‘amana and pamana.’ The Kapampangan race deserves to have this Kapampangan Cultural Center. E ta ne sana paburen mawala pa ing singsing (Let us not allow the ring to be lost),” said FLKI’s Irwin Nucum.
The FLKI thanked all who donated for the cause via the concert.
