PCL eyes regional activities to reinforce 'peace corridor'

THE Philippine Councilors League (PCL) expressed their support on the peace corridor of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front by creating series of regional activities, advocating to unite Muslims and Christians in the country.

The establishment of "peace corridor" aimed to help civilians affected by ongoing fighting between government and Maute terrorists in Marawi City.

PCL National Head Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, during Kapehan sa Dabaw media conference held in SM Ecoland Annex Building on Monday, June 26, said PCL want to take part in the peace corridor establishment by instilling activities, with the assistance of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), that could deepen the unity between the two religions.

"We want to show that both Muslims and Christians are one. We are united as one Filipino brothers and sisters," Dayanghirang said.

Dayanghirang said cultural festivities, engaging exercises, and other activities are part of their plans, not only for the people in the cities and municipalities under the peace corridor but by all regions in the country.

In June 29, he said PCL will be having a joint sports activity with the local government of Cagayan de Oro, participating by both Muslims and Christians in region ten to promote harmonious convergence of these two religions.

Dayanghirang added that Filipinos shall expect more activities like this in the coming months as PCL advocates unity among different religion.

In addition, Dayanghirang said PCL already downloaded the Anti-Discriminatory Ordinance in their website to provide local government units a copy as the league has been receiving complaints regarding discrimination on Muslims especially with the ongoing battle in Marawi City.

"We want to embrace our Muslim brothers and sisters because we should all be united. Nobody wants this extremism and drug infiltration in the country," he said.
