Murcia town village councilman shot dead

A VILLAGE councilman of Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia town in Negros Occidental was shot to death by two unidentified men on a motorcycle inside his house at Hacienda Wawa Monday night, June 21.

Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, town police chief, identified the fatality as Celso Meñoso, 52.

Investigation showed the two assailants pretended to be customers at the victim’s eatery adjacent to his house. They fired at him while he was sitting at the living room around 7 p.m.

Meñoso was able to walk a few steps before he fell to the kitchen floor. He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The assailants escaped together with their two companions, who served as lookouts.

The victim’s wife and children were also inside the house, but they were unharmed.

Santillan said the suspects proceeded towards Salvador Benedicto town.

Recovered from the crime scene were fired bullets of .45 caliber pistol and .9mm caliber pistol.
