P47.8-M farm-to-market road breaks ground in Macabebe

MACABEBE -- A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, February 20 for the San Jose-Castuli farm-to-market road (FMR) at Barangay San Jose, this town.

The PRDP is a national project under the DA that aims to establish a modern, value chain-oriented, and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector. The project is funded by the World Bank, national government, and participating local government units.

Macabebe Municipal Mayor Annette Balgan expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the department for awarding the FMR project.

“We have requested this project last 2015. We have passed the stringent process and now everything is set for its implementation,” Balgan said.

DA RFO Central Luzon OIC-Regional Executive Director and PRDP RPCO Project Director Engr. Roy Abaya said that the FMR project is the first approved PRDP in Pampanga.

“This is the first project under PRDP for the Province of Pampanga. We want the project done according to standards and hopefully it will be finished by June 2019 or July 2019. Not only will farmers benefit from it but also students going to their schools.”

“We are doing this to boost the lives of farmers and through investment projects,” ended Abaya.

The construction of the 2.681 kilometers FMR with a contracted amount of P47.830 million will benefit barangays San Jose, and Castuli reaching 801 farming households and 113 fishermen.
