Marwan’s widow back in Lanao del Norte for case filing

THE arrested widow of slain Malaysian bomber Zulkifli Bin Hir, known as Marwan, and three of her family members and a policeman have undergone inquest proceedings in Lanao del Norte on Monday, February 26.

Marwan's wife Juromee Dongon, her father Romeo, sisters Norein Santos and Lorelie Atta and the latter's husband Senior Police Officer 4 Andy Atta were brought back to Lanao del Norte for the case filing.

They were charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives after their arrest in two separate raid and search operations through a court order in Tubod and Baroy towns over the weekend.

Authorities seized guns, explosives and bomb-making components in the houses of Juromee and her father.

The suspects and the evidences were brought to CIDG-Northern Mindanao office in Cagayan de Oro City after their arrest.

"Gidala sila balik sa Lanao del Norte kay didto man ang place of incident. Didto ang case filing," the CIDG-Northern Midanao said.

Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said Juromee's first husband was slain Abu Sayyaf terrorist leader Khadaffy Janjalani.

The Abu Sayyaf member Renierlo Dongon, who was arrested along with Police Superintendent Maria Christina Nobleza in Bohol, April last year, was Juromee's brother.

Gonda said authorities are still establishing the possible links and support extended by the suspects to the terrorist groups.

He said the suspects may likely be transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

"Posible na ma-transfer sila kay didto man tanan basta related sa terrorist group," Gonda said.

However, no charges related to terrorism have been filed yet against the suspects.
