Health office immunizes 24,655 children vs measles

THE outbreak response immunization campaign of the City Health Office (CHO) has successfully vaccinated 24,655 children against measles during the first two weeks of the campaign.

City Health Office data showed the coverage for the outbreak response immunization has reached 20.22 percent out of the targeted population of 121,928 children.

“From February 19 to March 2 we have covered 24,655. Previously, we have covered 17,000 so that’s about 41,000 already children covered,” Dr. Dulce Amor Dagalea-Miravite, City Health Officer, said.

Of the 24,655 children, 1,221 were from the six to eight-month bracket, 1,690 from the nine to 11-month bracket, and 21,744 from the 12 to 59-month bracket.

As response to the declared measles outbreak, the City Health Office is intensifying its outbreak response immunization activity, particularly for children aged six to 59 months, regardless of immunization status.

Miravite said they are targeting to increase its measles coverage in this city to 95 percent. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
