Ifugao runner outwits foes in Gotad trek

RANDY Dulnuan used his familiarity of the trek besting 300 other runners to top the 21K male division of the Gotad ad Ifugao Trekathon last week.

Dulnuan checked in with a time of eight hours, seven minutes and 30 seconds in the foot race organized by the Provincial Government as part of the 2017 Gotad ad Ifugao Festival and 51st founding anniversary of the province.

Drexel Dino finished with a time of 8:11:00 with Archie Dave Gawe completing the top three elite finishers checking in at 8:11:30 of the foot race which kicked off at the Kiangan Yamashita Shrine passing through Bilong, Imbuliklik Rock, Bayninan Open Air Museum, Wingiyon, Bae Rice Terraes, Ambuwaya Lake, Habian, Tandi Mungayang, Cudog, Dullagan and ended at the Lagawe Central School open gym.

King of the Mountain veteran James Tellias meanwhile finished fourth with a time of 8:14:20 with Arnel Recopderto finishing fifth at 8:22:30. A special award was given to Vermose Ayluna Jr. for finishing the category in 8:34:40.

Arlene Uyammi topped the distaff side with a time of 8:46:22 as Elmimie Damuggo finished second clocking in 8:51:50, with Maribel Bogbog finishing third with a time of 9:05:50.

Benzon Binwag topped the 10K category with a time of 7:01:13 followed by Arnel Lucain (7:06:13) and Noel Tangid (7:09:10).

The distaff side saw Mildred Atluna bagging the top purse with 7:25:13 as Mitchie Dacawe came in second (7:26:30) while Alyssa Beth Luglug salvaged third place (7:27:59).

The 10 kilometer route also started at Kiangan Yamashita Shrine passing Ambabag, Bae Tice terraces, Ambuwaya Lake, Habian Bridge, Bahawit, ifsu Lagawe, pdwh, Dullagan and finished at the Lagawe Central School.

The event saw elite and amateur runners with 185 participants in the 21K category and 114 participants in the 10K category. (Roderick Osis)
