Soledad: Atok views

Plans are now underway for the development of Benguet-Kochi Sisterhood Park in Paoay, Atok, Benguet which will draw more tourists in the area.

A hotel will be built including comfort rooms, pasalubong center, and other amenities in the park situated in the highest point of elevation in the Benguet.

This will make anyone who goes there to better enjoy the ambience of the beautiful area and the view of more than 30 eye-catching Sakura trees, otherwise known as Cherry Blossoms.

The Sakura trees planted in the farm in 2016 in partnership with farmer Edward Haight and Japanese Hiromi Yoshikawa have two varieties - the Yokiwari Sakura which produces pink blooms and Sindaya Sakura with white blossoms.

Also frequently visited now by tourists in Atok is the two-hectare Northern Blossoms Flower Farm where the popular attractive cabbage rose flourished with purple, lilac, and white colors.

Much appreciated too are the rare ornamental flowers and blooming cut flowers such as the different colors of delphiniums like white, purple, and yellow; Matthiola with colors white, violet, peach, and pink; and pink and white luxper flowers.

Today, more and more tourists are visiting these two beautiful places of the highland province of Benguet, the Salad Bowl in the Philippines.

As it draws more tourists, it is very important for the community to be more aware of the essence of tourism and its impact to the community. A tourism plan will help the community handle development such as the possible influx of more tourists in the area. The provincial and municipal tourism office play a very important role on this aspect.
