3rd Pangasinan Women’s Convention slated March 21-22

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The Provincial Government of Pangasinan will conduct its 3rd Provincial Women’s Convention on March 21-22 at the Provincial Training and Development Center here in celebration of the National Women’s Month.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emilio Samson said the convention aims to empower women, as it recognizes their sector's role in the over-all development of the province.

“The Provincial Government continues to create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges, and commitments in pursuing Gender and Development -- to strengthen the implementation of the Magna Carta of Women,” Samson said.

The convention’s forum will focus on women’s education and population growth, as well as women’s economic empowerment.

Aside from the forum, participants can avail themselves of free beauty make-over, skills and livelihood training, and free legal consultation from the JCI Lingayen Liberation II and free medical check-up from the Provincial Health Office.

A Caribbean dance competition for municipal and city Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi) associations is set on March 21 and a special meeting or evaluation and assessment on March 22 at the President Hotel.

Kalipi is a grassroots women organization organized in barangays, cities and municipalities and provinces.

The women’s convention will be participated in by municipal and city Kalipi officers and members, municipal and city social welfare and development officers, women’s desk officers from the Philippine National Police, and social work majors from the state universities of the province.

The theme of this year’s National Women’s Month is, “We Make Change Work for Women.” (PNA)
