Davao mayor attests to Bong Go's integrity, loyalty

DAVAO CITY Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that Special Assistant to President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go is worth recommending as Senator because of his work in Davao and his loyalty to serve President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Actually I do not know of his plans but I was asked if I will endorse him and I said yes of course because I know his work, I know with his experience with his work with President Rodrigo Duterte and because he is from Davao," the mayor said.

She said that she will support Dabawenyos who wants to help the Duterte Administration.

Go, in a ABS-CBN news report, said that he was humbled by the endorsement.

“The Dutertes, the father, the daughter are my inspiration and the example of being a true public servant. Kahit maaga pa po pag-usapan ang politika, ni 'di ko pa po naisip ang tumakbo ngunit sa mga salitang binitawan ng ating Mayora Inday Sara, ngayon pa lang nakakataba na ng puso at nakakawala ng pagod," Go said.

He also said that it is too early to talk about politics and his utmost priority now is to work hard under President Rodrigo Duterte and the Philippines.

Based on the same report, Go said that the talks of him running for a senatorial seat started when his boss said in jest that he did a "sterling performance in the senate."

Go attended a senate hearing last month in relation to his alleged involvement in the Philippine Navy frigate deal.

Duterte-Carpio, however said she is not aware of any senatorial line up yet.

She was also silent whether she will run for senator in the 2019 elections.

"It is very fluid yes, kanang tanan always God's will and God's time, if gisulat na sa Ginoo mahitabo jud na (It is very fluid, all of it is always God's will, if its written then it will really happen)," she said.
