THE Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) volleybelles and Jose Maria College (JMC) stood tall on the winner's podium at the close of the 81st Araw ng Dabaw Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament held at the Felis Resort Complex last Sunday, March 18.

The pair of Daphne Mabong and Kycel Trisha Jane Del Campo of Igacos stamped an identical 21-18 victory over Batang Pinoy qualifiers composed of Keith Guma and April Joy Locaberte, and the Khalia Sinsuat and Kyla Sebuco-powered University of Immaculate Conception (UIC), respectively, in the three-way finals to romp away with the girl's division crown.

Batang Pinoy qualifiers, however, sealed a 21-9 beatdown over UIC to salvage the second place.

UIC settled for the third spot instead.

The Christopher Estoses and Journe Cataag-bannered JMC, on the other hand, survived past the determined Kayeanne Monares and Carl Dimalanta of Davao City National High School (DCNHS) 23-21, to finish in a dominant fashion in the boy's division.

Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg double gold medalists Dux Euan Yambao and Angelo Joshua Gonzales, meanwhile, secured the third place over Kobe Miranda and Lawrence Amador of Philippians team 21-9, in the battle for third of the event presented by the City Government of Davao in partnership with the Davao Volleyball Association under the Philippine Volleyball Federation.

The event is also co-presented by the Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office, Davao City Sports Council Inc. and Tanduay Athletics, Philippine Sports Commission and Felis Resort Complex.
