Pair caught with P4M shabu stash ran network larger than Jaguar's, PDEA says

THE alleged drug network of Marie Ann Maglasang is considered superior in Central Visayas than that of slain drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz's, according to an anti-narcotics official.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz said they received a report that Maglasang and her alleged boyfriend Christopher Cobrado can sell two kilos of “shabu” a day, which they distribute to their underlings.

Sa among assessment ani, mas dako pa ni siya ni Jaguar. Tiaw mo nang naa siyay 13 ka balay nga nagkantidad ang usa og more or less P3 million (In our assessment, they're bigger than Jaguar. Would you believe they have 13 houses that costs more or less P3 million),” he told reporters yesterday.

The houses are reportedly in the posh subdivisions in Camotes, mainland Cebu, and Manila.

Maglasang, a businesswoman, and Cobrado allegedly have connections with convicted drug lord Peter Co, who allegedly runs his narcotics trade inside the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

PDEA agents seized P4.1 million worth of “shabu” after they caught the suspects in a buy-bust in Barangay Union, San Francisco last Friday night.

Ruiz said there are 19 level-two drug personalities in their list and only seven of them are still at large.

Union was one of the 120 barangays in Cebu province declared as drug-free last April.

The village and 18 others risked of losing their drug-cleared statuses after there were some drug surrenders who tested positive for illegal drug use.

Ruiz said village officials may face administrative charges for their failure to discipline the drug surrenderers.

He said they will reevaluate all the drug-cleared villages with Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) next week.
