4 drug suspects nabbed in Baguio City, La Trinidad

FOUR drug suspects were arrested by police and anti-narcotics agents in separate operations in Baguio City and La Trinidad town, Benguet.

In Baguio City, drug suspect Jessiemel "Ashley" Montemayor, 24, a resident of Block 3 East Quirino Hill, was nabbed last June 25, after he sold a sachet of suspected crystal meth, locally known as "shabu", to an undercover agent.

In La Trinidad, Benguet, the police arrested on Tuesday, June 27, Edwin Salvador Ganado, 39; Rommel Paculanan Olog, 38; and Reynan Tan Chavez, 27.

Ganado and Olog were arrested in their residence at Pico, La Trinidad, after they sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer.

Seized from their possession are two sachets of shabu, P2,900 cash and drug bust money, drug paraphernalia, and two cellphones.

Chavez, resident of Bayabas, Pico, was also arrested in a follow-up operation when he was about to deliver illegal drugs to Ganado.

Seized from him are three sachets containing suspected shabu, P1,000 cash, and one cellphone.

The suspects are now under the custody of the police and case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 which was filed against them in court.

Police Regional Office-Cordillera regional director Francis Elmo Sarona said that with these successive arrests, it only manifests the Philippine National Police cannot afford to lower their guard.

Sarona added there is no let-up in eradicating both the use and trade of illegal drugs in the region and more aggressive and active drug war will be piloted especially in the conduct of operations against illegal drug personalities and drug syndicates. (Roderick Osis)
