CAGAYAN de Oro City has a new chief of police and, as his first order of business, he has ordered policemen to report for work at dawn, ahead of most ordinary working men and women.
Newly installed City Police Director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon said he has ordered the first shift changed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
"I believe that before the people go out to the street, the police must already be there," Aganon said during the turnover of Cocpo (Cagayan de Oro Police Office) leadership on Monday, April 2.
Aganon replaced Senior Superintendent Robert Roy Bahian who was relieved and reassigned to the Regional Headquarters Support Group (RHSG) in Camp Alagar.
Aganon remains the concurrent battalion commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB). He said it is not his first time to lead two offices at the same time.
He was a native of Nueva Ecija. He was a former member of the Special Action Force; former battalion commander of the Police Regional Office in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARRM); former spokesperson of Police Regional Office-3 and has experience leading city and provincial police offices in Luzon.
Aganon directed the men and women of Cocpo to shape up, deliver and perform their duties.
This as he bared plans to reshuffle police station commanders depending on the performance evaluation and audit.
"We need people who can deliver results not just by statements but by actions,"he said, adding that those who cannot pass the audit will be relieved and reassigned.
Aganon also said he will assure that law enforcers can respond to crimes and incidents on time by initiating exercises that will improve response speed.
"We will test the response time because time matters. Dapat yung ating mga police makarespond on time. We will do table tap exercises to speed up our response to become more effective,"he added.
On top of Aganon's priorities are combating illegal drugs and all forms of criminality and police internal cleansing.
