Kidnappers seize marine product firm employee

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Alleged members of a kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) have seized an employee of a marine product firm in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the victim as Laarni Bandi, a resident of Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Bandi works as the secretary of the Cebeles Marine Product, which is into the business of buy and sell of all kinds of marine products in the province.

Galvez said Bandi, 38, was seized by seven gunmen at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Purok Maabiabihon, Poblacion village, Malangas town.

Galvez said investigation showed that Bandi was at the boarding house of Adilaida Bayno when the suspects arrived and seized the victim.

The victim together with some co-workers and friends had just arrived from a picnic in Muyong Island, Malangas.

Galvez said the gunmen dragged the victim to the shore and forced her to board in a motorboat that sped off towards Muyong Island.

She said the Malangas policemen in coordination with the maritime police, coastguard and navy immediately launched operation at sea and in nearby islands.

She said that policemen and soldiers also conducted patrol and checkpoints in the mainland for the possible apprehension of the abductors and recovery of the victim.

Investigation continue in a bid to establish the identities of the suspects behind the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
