21 MSEs benefit from ‘Kapatid Mentor Me’ program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- At least 21 micro and small entrepreneurs (MSEs) from the region on Friday had the chance to further enhance their marketing strategies and programs with the “Kapatid Mentor Me” program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

In partnership with the Philippine Center of Entrepreneurship, Kapatid Mentor Me aims to provide assistance to MSEs in developing their businesses through coaching and mentoring in different functional areas of entrepreneurship by their “ates” and “kuyas” who successfully developed their businesses.

According to DTI-Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles, the MSE-participants were given seminars and trainings on how to improve their marketing and advertising strategies, as well as the legal aspect of their respective businesses.

“It is very significant that we train our MSEs because they play a big role in the trade and commerce of the community. In fact, more than 90 percent of the registered businesses in Central Luzon are classified as MSEs,” she disclosed.

Now on its second year, Angeles bared that the first batch of MSEs mentored under the program are already showcasing the development and innovation they underwent after gaining new business knowledge.

“We’ve seen how their market grew, and the boost in their confidence in dealing with people as well as how they developed and innovated their products and we hope that we will have the same gain in this batch,” she said.

The launching of Kapatid Mentor Me Year 2 was held in Otel Pampanga and was attended by dozens of MSEs and medium and large-scale business owners in the region.
