1,072 cops, army, volunteers to be deployed for Panaad Festival

AN ESTIMATED 1,072 law enforcers and civilian volunteers will be initially deployed for the security of the 25th Panaad sa Negros Festival on April 14 to 22.

Inspector Charmae De Paz, public information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said Friday that the security force is composed of policemen from Nocppo and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), rescue teams, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, civilian volunteers, and other law enforcement agencies.

Nocppo has conducted series of coordinating conferences with the provincial government, BCPO, local government units, non-government organizations, and other concerned agencies.

De Paz said the number of the security force will increase depending on the results of the final meeting next week.

She assured that Nocppo is “all set” for the festivity.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial director of Nocppo, in a press statement yesterday said they will establish police assistance hubs, conduct checkpoint operations, and intensify police visibility, and security patrols in strategic areas.

Information, Education, and Communication materials will also be distributed to the public for safety tips and crime prevention.

Nocppo reminded the public that bringing of sharp objects like knife, ice pick, and the like are prohibited.

In addition, all Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence are also suspended for 11 days from April 12 to 22 at Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The Negros police also appeal to the public to be more vigilant at all times and help them in its campaign against criminality.
