Phoenix Premium 98 in Cebu

FIRST, belated Happy Hijos de Davao! I was not able to attend. This was last night. Not able to wear my gown that I prepared months ahead. I have not been absent for this occasion in years. Oh well. There’s always next year.

What is it? Hijos de Davao (Sons and Daughters of Davao). This happens once a year. Old families of Davao gather and celebrate wearing formal and elegant attire. The women—many wear ternos—those long gowns with butterfly sleeves. The men, many of them wear barongs. There is a rigodon dance. Basta, it is the grandest event of the year.

Just wait, I am sure many of the newspapers will post pictures starting tomorrow. And the lifestyle section columnists will explain what Hijos de Davao is, better than me.

Some are probably saying, "what is the connection between Hijos de Davao and golf?" Why did I mention it in my column? Hey, FYI, many of the members and guests of this event are golfers. Once a year, for a change, they are not wearing their usual golf attire. By force, the wives require them to not play. If they insist, they have to finish early to be able to prepare for this celebration.

Naku! If the hubbies won’t be around, that means WAR!

Apo Golf news: This coming June 30 to July 2, 2017, Apo Golf Club will have its monthly tournament. As an added incentive, according to Grace of Apo Golf, if you join, “You can earn loyalty points which you can convert to a gift cheque or a green fee voucher. You can also earn championship points for which you can win merchandise or free entry to the Durian Tee.” Now, isn’t this great? All the more reason to join. So, sign up.

So, where am I? I am in Cebu to participate in the Phoenix Premium 98 Golf Open. The tournament will be held in Cebu at Cebu Country Club, this coming June 30, 2017. That is today! While you are reading this, I am probably at the golf course sweating my @#$# off.

Looking forward to winning that P1 million hole-in-one prize. Oh my, I should have brought my gown to Cebu. Ohhh! I can wear it when I receive the P1 million check tonight at the awarding ceremony. Hahaha.Wishful thinking.

By the way, how can you tell if your body is stretchable enough to play golf? You are probably wondering if your body is fit enough to play. Try this—stretch your left arm out and point towards your right shoulder.

Now, try to kiss your elbow. If you cannot, sorry. You need to exercise before you can play. Do it now. Well? Successful? Or time to hit the gym?

That is it. Short article today. Good Luck to the participants of the Phoenix Premium 98 in Cebu.

By the way, about the elbow exercise. I was kidding. Hahaha! But if you were able to kiss your elbow, OMG, congratulations!

Happy Golfing!
