Executive order creating transport, traffic group signed

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio last Friday, June 23, issued an executive order (EO) creating a committee for city transportation and traffic planning.

Duterte-Carpio signed Executive Order 27 that provides for the creation of the City Transportation and Traffic Planning Committee (TTPC) that will be tasked to organize all matters pertaining to and affecting infrastructure development on road, usage, both for pedestrians and motorists, public and private transportation, and traffic planning in general of Davao City.

To achieve this, the TTPC shall harmonize all plans, proposals, studies on the development of Davao City, and formulate strategies to ensure a holistic and efficient planning and programming of initiatives addressing transportation and traffic issues of the city.

The TTPC shall ensure that its plans and programs are submitted for consultation and consideration to appropriate offices or entities, both public and private.

Based on Section 1 of the ordinance, the TTPC will be chaired by the mayor or the city administrator as her duly appointed representative.

All costs pertaining to the operation of TTPC shall be taken from the available funds of the City Government of Davao subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules. (KVC)
