BIR: Don’t wait for April 16 to file ITRs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 4 (RR4) is reminding all taxpayers in Pampanga to file their income tax returns (ITR) ahead of the April 15 deadline which is technically April 16 since the former falls on a Sunday.

BIR Regional Director Jethro Sabariaga advised taxpayers to file their ITRs months before the deadline, so they can be immediately accommodated and avoid the inconveniences

Late filing and payment of tax dues are imposed with a 25 percent surcharge, 20 percent interest per year and extra charge on the basic tax.

The BIR has moved the deadline for the filing of ITRs to April 16, since the April 15 deadline falls on a Sunday, a non-working day. There are three options available for the filing of the ITR, which are manual filing, electronic Filing and Payment System, and electronic BIR forms.
