A break from just Instagrammable food houses

HUNGRY in Marfori on a Sunday evening, my sister and I went looking for a place to eat. If you have been around here as much as I did, then you would agree that we dub it one of Davao City's food districts. Ironically though, not all food stalls here would satisfy everyone's palate

Each food businesses there has a story and they also cater to different types of customers.

Noween and I were to spend the night in a nearby coffee shop so we agreed to take our dinner first. While there are a lot of options, only a few actually serves good food. Some just stand there to help young bloggers get a good photo addition to their Instagram feed (honestly).

A short walk from the green park is El Nido Pizza and Pasta, I reckon the owner must have a fascination with Italian cuisine as their menu dictates. Fortunately, they are also offering a good list of Pinoy classics including our favorite chicken curry and sisig.

It was past seven when we arrived and the server handed a menu that's all for share which would tell why most customers came in groups. Thankfully, the lady staff suggested we see their 'Sulit Meals' posted by the cashier. I forgot to take a photo but I remember there's chicken curry, pork liempo and sisig.

We picked curry and sisig along with in-house fruit shakes Avocado and Mango sold for 80php each.

The order took 20 minutes before it was served but we were fine waiting because there's a flatscreen TV showing CNN Philippines. 20 minutes is okay, not too long to drain anybody's patience and I wouldn't expect it to be served right away anyway, there's no signage saying it's a fast-food chain. But it would be nice if the staff would advise how long it would take to prepare the food so the customer would know what to expect.

When we already got to eat, mine was served generously. There were three cuts of chicken and a few huge chunks of carrots and potatoes. The meat was not as tender as I preferred it to be so I kind of settled with the vegetables and its sauce, at least the sauce was yummy. I still enjoyed it anyway. Not bad for charging 120php.

As for the sisig, my sister, who's really keen on eating said it's good that it did not appeal like it was stored in a freezer for days.

The food is good, just right for the price. And since I'll be frequenting on the nearby coffee shop, I am considering going back for their pasta. Then, of course, I'll tell you about it!??
