CEB renews partnership with Davao tourism stakeholders

IN TIME for its 10th anniversary for its Davao hub, Cebu Pacific (CEB) renews its partnership with the Davao tourism stakeholders-led Davao Fun Sale Execom, Inc. for this year's Visit Davao Summer Festival (VDSF).

This year marks the 5th year partnership of the two organizations.

The renewal of partnership was led by CEB Corporate Communications director Charo Logarta Lagamon, VDSF chair Benjie Lizada, Department of Tourism regional director Butch Ramon, and Davao City Tourism Officer Generose Tecson along with several Davao region provincial and municipal tourism officers.

Lagamon said with the strong partnership, the airline is committed to continue promoting Davao and its neighboring cities and towns in Davao Region and the rest of Southern Mindanao as safe, enjoyable and exhilarating travel and adventure destinations for both local and foreign tourists.

"Davao and adjacent provinces have so much to offer tourists. We want people to spread the word and dispel any notions they may have about Mindanao in general. We strongly feel that positive word-of-mouth is integral to promoting the region, especially foreign tourists," she said.

To further promote the ten-week VDSF 2018, the airline will bring in top adventure travel bloggers and digital influences from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Davao as a strong hub

Lagamon shared in a presentation that Davao, being its hub since 2008, has now flights directly to and from 10 destinations namely Tagbilaran, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Manila, Tacloban, Zamboanga and Singapore.

CEB has over 148 flights weekly to and from the city, representing about eight percent of the total number of flights mounted weekly.

Last year, the airline flew over 2.6 million passengers, representing roughly 12 percent of the total 19.7 million flown in 2017.

"This year, we are expecting to exceed what we achieved last year and reach over 20 million passengers," she said. (ASP)
