SAN SIMON -- Some 400 residents from two barangays here benefitted from the feeding program sponsored by Real Steel Corporation.
The two-day feeding program held in barangays Sta. Monica and San Isidro here is part of the monthly corporate social responsibility of the steel mill.
According to Real Steel Corporation Public Communications Officer Cyril Hilario, the smelting plant management aims to extend their resources to the people of San Simon through social projects.
“Ang gusto ng boss namin ay makatulong sa mga taga-San Simon, lalo na dito sa host barangay namin. Gusto niya na ibalik ‘yung pag-welcome nila sa amin dito sa barangay nila sa kahit maliit lang na paraan (Our boss want that we help the people of San Simon especially our host barangay. He wants to give back to the people the warm welcome they have extended us even in this small way),” she said.
Hilario said that some 300 residents and students from San Isidro village enjoyed the free meals while at least 100 senior citizens from Barangay Sta. Monica were nourished with healthy food such as rice porridge, boiled banana and corn and lechon.
“Gusto namin healthy pero nilagyan namin ng lechon para sa enjoyment ng beneficiaries,” he said.
Barangay San Isidro Captain Randie Flores, for his part, extended his gratitude to the management of Real Steel Corporation for continuously providing assistance for their barangay.
“Malaki na ang natutulong ng Real Steel sa barangay namin, mula sa medical mission, gift-giving, pagpapasemento ng covered court ng elementary school, tapos ito. Malaki ‘yung contribution nila sa barangay San Isidro (Real Steel has done a lot for us),” he said.
Real Steel Corporation is one of the active private companies in San Simon that share their resources with the town through their corporate social responsibility projects.
Aside from their contributions in San Isidro, the steel mill also donates various equipment and materials to the local government and to the parish church.
