Baguio water firm shifts to new billing schedule

THE Baguio Water District is advising their consumers on the scheduled changes on the water meter reading and billing schedules.

Effective August 1, BWD will implement a new meter reading scheme. The 10-day billing adjustment will take over the former 14-day water meter reading cycle.

In the new calendar, BWD meter readers will read and bill consumers during the first 10 calendar days of each month. Formerly, billing schedules keeps on until the 14th of each month affecting the payment schedules of existing accounts.

The modifications were taken into consideration to quickly address consumer complaints regarding their water bills, if any. The approach also encourages prompt payment of their monthly bills.

“One of the positive impacts seen from this scheme is that District personnel can immediately address concerns regarding water bill discrepancies if ever there will be. The earlier our customers note some problems, the earlier they can report or bring their clarifications to the office,” BWD general manager engineer Salvador Royeca stated.

In the proposed schedule, accounts billed starting August 1 will fall due on the 16th, August 2 on the 17th, August 3 on the 18th of each month and so on.

If followed, the latest due dates of consumers will be on the 25th of each month, at least four days earlier than the usual due dates.

According to the BWD Commercial Division, the experimental meter reading and billing scheme will be in effect for a minimum of three months and is subjected to further evaluation and permanent set-up depending on the assessment thereof.

Royeca asked for the cooperation and support of the public on the implementation of the system.

“We continue to value our clients this is why we exert all efforts to achieve the highest standards of service we can provide them. These aspirations can only be achieved if we all work together,” Royeca closed.

The changes are part of the water district’s on-going rehabilitation on strategic platform to streamline and improve its services to consumers within the Summer Capital.
