Salvador Benedicto wins Binalabay contest

THE municipality of Salvador Benedicto won the first prize in the Paindis-indis sa Binalaybay held Tuesday at the Panaad Stadium, as part of the weeklong Panaad sa Negros Festival 2018.

Salvador Benedicto’s winning piece entitled, “Panaad@25: The Promise Fulfilled,” was composed by Sandra Asin, and interpreted by Lyndon Culanag.

The municipality of Manapla placed second with the piece, “Mabuhay mga Negrosanon” composed by Julie Santia and interpreted by Thea Isabelle Villanueva, while the municipality of Calatrava placed third with the piece, “Panaad nga Puno sang Paglaum” composed by Tony Mahusay and interpreted by Jhyn Anthony Mahusay.

The winners received P10,000, P7,000, and P5,000 cash and trophies, respectively.

The consolation prizes were given to Escalante City, Silay City, Cadiz City, La Carlota City, Kabankalan City, Sipalay City, Bacolod City, Hinigaran, Himamaylan City, Pontevedra, Toboso, Sagay City, San Enrique, E.B. Magalona, Valladolid, and Pulupandan.

Panaad is now on its fourth day of celebration. Other upcoming activities are Tesda Livelihood Skills Competition on April 19, 9 a.m. at the Panaad Covered Court, Lin-ay sang Negros Pageant on April 20, 7 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium, Pasidungog sa mga Mangunguma, Mangigisda kag Manugsagod sang Kasapatan on April 21, 4 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium, and Panaad Drumbeating Competition on April 22, 8 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium, among others.
