ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Restituto Padilla said Sunday that the P370-million worth of firearms and ammunitions donated by China will be "of big help" in addressing the situation in Marawi crisis.
China, represented by its Ambassador Zhao Jianhua, donated 3,000 units of rifles–including sniper rifle, automatic rifle and high-precision rifle–and six million pieces of ammunition.
Padilla said they are still awaiting for the inventory of the donations before they can turn it over to the government troops participating in the military operations in Marawi City.
He said the firearms from China are "easier to handle."
Meanwhile, Zhao said another set of donations for the country's armed forces will be coming soon.
In addition, China also gave the country P15 million for the upcoming rehabilitation in Marawi City.
The ongoing crisis in the Marawi has already displaced more than 400,000 people and claimed the lives of at least 300 persons, including civilians and government forces. (SunStar Philippines)
