THE Regional Trial Court Branch 59 in Toledo City has ordered the municipal treasurer and election officer of Tuburan to turn over the results of last year’s elections and other election paraphernalia to their custody today.

This is in relation to the election protest filed by defeated Tuburan mayoral candidate Daphne Lagon against incumbent mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante.

In a three-page order, RTC Branch 59 Presiding Judge Hermes Montero ordered Tuburan municipal treasurer Francisca Jumao-as and Gilbert Pepito, municipal election officer, to transfer the election paraphernalia to his court from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. today.

Both officials were mandated to turn over ballot boxes with their keys, vote counting machines (VCMs) and consolidation machines, electronic data storage devices, list of voters and voting records; books of voters and other documents or paraphernalia involved in the 79 protested precincts.

The local police have been directed by the court to ensure that the retrieval of the election paraphernalia is peaceful and secure. (JKV)
