German bizmen urged to invest in manufacturing

THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) is encouraging Germany to invest in the manufacturing industry in Davao City.

Despite the recent declaration of Martial Law and the Marawi Crisis in Mindanao, the chamber met with German ambassador to the Philippines Gordon Kricke last June 20. The ambassador was here for an exploratory mission and induct its honorary consul.

Ronald Go, DCCCII President, told SunStar Davao in an interview on Monday, July 3, at the sidelines of the 32nd Kadayawan Festival launch at Marco Polo Davao that the ambassador is interested to get business going between Davao City and German businessmen.

"With their technology, we were trying to encourage them to invest in the manufacturing sector," he said.

Go said German manufacturing companies can invest in Davao City as its location for its manufacturing hub or assembly point for their products that they will distribute in Asia.

He, however, pointed out that since this is still an exploratory mission, there is still no definite industry that the Germans are looking into yet.

Go said it is important that German and Davao City businessmen to meet.
He said the German team who came here are looking into bringing businessmen in the city but have not given a specific date yet.
