Domalsin builds up for Mr. Olympia Amateur

BAGUIO City’s Reynold Domalsin is eyeing a possible professional card when he competes in the Mr. Olympia Amateur in Hong Kong in November.

The 36-year-old athlete, who will try to be the first Cordilleran to earn a pro-card, said he will intensify his training in the next four months.

“This is quite a long shot for us, masyadong malaki ang dream na ito but since we are already aware that there will be pro-cards at stake in Hong Kong later this year I might go all-in as well,” Domalsin told Sun.Star Baguio.

Domalsin has said four pro-cards are at stake in Hong Kong.

“So far there is no direct information which weight division will the IFBB distribute the most coveted pro licences. According to what I know the selection will be done directly during the competition,” Domalsin said.

The Saint Louis University alumnus said he will compete in the 80-kilogram category.

“Probably the same weight division na sinasalihan ko ang goal ko, pero as we know baka magkaroon ng changes depende kung anong magiging result ng preparations,” Domalsin said.

He finished fourth in the Arnold Amateur International Championships in Columbus, Ohio, last March.

The former Mr. Baguio (2004-05), Mr. Panagbenga (2006), and Mr. Philippines (2013) titlist manages and owns the Maximus Den and Training Center in Quezon City.

“This will really be a big challenge for me, hindi lang ako ang Filipino competitor doon not to mention a lot of other international body builders will also try their luck,” Domalsin said.

The Mr. Olympia Amateur will Domalsin’s third international outing since he started competing in 2013.
