79 persons enlist in Cordillera fire bureau

TUBA, Benguet -- The Bureau of Fire and Protection-Cordillera further boost its manpower with the enlistment of 79 new fire officers, who are set to be deployed in the different fire stations in the region.

BFP Regional Director Sofia Mendoza administered the oath of the new fire officers composing Class Alibtak (Aasahan ng Lahat na di Iiwan and Bayan hangga’t Tulong Ay Kailangan) at the BFP regional office during Monday's flag raising ceremony.

Screened from 615 applicants from various parts of the region, the 79 new fire officers are composed of 27 females and 52 males.

Mendoza called on the new recruits to join the service with firm commitment and dedication in performing their sworn duties and responsibilities as mandated in BFP's vision of a modern fire service fully capable of ensuring a fire safety nation.

BFP-Cordillera assistant Regional Director for administration and operations Allan Eballar also joined Mendoza in welcoming and giving inspirational message to the new recruits.

In the same event, BFP–Cordillera conducted a blood–letting activity in partnership with the Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay headed by Jocelyn Suello, president and general manager of Maezelle Psycho Metier and Diagnostic Center.

The activity collected a total of 78 bags or equivalent to 35,100 cc from the qualified donors from the BFP Regional Office and newly sworn fire officers

Being the first Monday of July, BFP–Cordillera also launched its campaign for Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Month, in consonance with the country’s observance of National Disaster Resilience Month.
