Capitol plans to give financial aid to quake-affected Leyte

CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III announced that the Provincial Government is planning to send financial aid to the Province of Leyte following last Thursday’s earthquake.

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake damaged and destroyed several structures there.

Davide said he plans to meet with Capitol officials and the Provincial Board on how they will go about the donation.

“We will discuss (the aid). Basta naa’y nagkinahanglan og tabang atong tabangan (If somebody needs help, we will help),” Davide said.

The earthquake also hit Cebu, with schools and offices cutting short the day for the safety of the students and workers.

Davide said that the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has reported that the earthquake didn’t cause any damage in the towns and component cities under Cebu Province. (JKV)
