THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Davao Region has recorded 228 families from Marawi who have evacuated to Davao City due to the ongoing firefight in Marawi City as of Friday, June 7.
DSWD-Davao Region calamity management officer Erna Sampiano, during the 2017 National Resilience Month media forum held at the Grand Regal Hotel Friday, said most of these families are in Barangay 23-C where a big community of Maranaos live.
Sampiano said DSWD-Davao Region in coordination with the City Social Services and Development Office has regularly been providing food packs to the evacuees.
She added that DSWD-Davao Region also conducts weekly stress-debriefings since June to the families who are willing to undergo post-trauma counseling sessions.
"We do not force all of them because there are few who are not willing, although we constantly invite them in case they want to," Sampiano said. (BSC)
