Check biometrics info, voters told

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental is urging voters to check whether they have complied with the required biometric information to enable them to vote in the next elections.

Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez said voters should visit their respective local elections offices for confirmation.

Of the 1,557,006 registered voters in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, 73,346 have yet to comply with their biometric data as of April 20, records from Comelec showed.

Voters who fail to complete their data with Comelec will be delisted from the official voters for 2016 elections, Suarez said.

Local government units with the highest number of voters with incomplete biometric data include Bacolod City, 7, 397 voters; Bago City, 5,903 voters; Kabankalan City, 5,657 voters; Cadiz City, 5,526 voters; and Himamaylan City, 4,178 voters.

Voters are given until October 31 to comply with the requirements, Suarez added.

The Comelec is also sending letters to voters informing them about their deficiencies.
