Dimyum Restaurant opens new branch at Damosa

ASIAN cuisine lovers living in the northern part of Davao City need not to go down south just to dine at Dimyum Restaurant.

Anyone from Lanang, Buhangin and all other areas up north can already enjoy the scrumptious offerings of the restaurant as they opened a new branch at Damosa Gateway Commercial Complex on J.P.Laurel Avenue.

Last July 2, my family, together with Sunstar Davao editors RJ Lumawag and Rhealyn Pojas, were invited to try dining at this new location.

We ordered Kueh Pie Tee for appetizer; Yang Chow rice, Beef Rendang, Laksa (my personal favorite), Spicy Honey Spare Ribs, and Shrimp Foo Young for the main course; and Oreo snow balls and Matcha buchi for dessert. We also tried their Japanese siomai.

As we were having our feast of Asian dishes for lunch, we couldn't stop exclaiming how satisfied we were with the flavors we get to taste from everything we ordered.

Their Oreo snow balls were a hit to my children, especially to my three-year-old daughter. They were extra soft and chewy butchi filled with crushed Oreo and milk. The Matcha buchi are to die for as well. They're all goodness in a ball!

Behind this cozy food destination is Alec Jovero, who shared his vision for this new branch.

"Before we started Dimyum, we always had this vision to eventually open several branches. One year after we opened the Obrero branch, an opportunity in Damosa came in, so we grabbed it. We had our soft opening last June 15, a few days before Father's day," he said.

When asked why he picked Damosa as a new location, the young entrepreneur said, "Damosa is an established area, it's a known landmark. It's very hard to find a good commercial location today. We were lucky to have been offered this small yet efficient spot for a restaurant. We could have waited and opted for a bigger area but we have this good inkling that Damosa might be a good place for another branch."

He added that people working and living in the north is a whole new market, as the branch opened doors for new customers craving for Asian dishes.

"So far,our sales do better than what we expect and sometimes it doesn't. As I would say 'di man pirmi pasko'. All businesses have ups and downs and maybe the awareness is not yet enough," he said.

Well, with the quality of food and service they offer, Dimyum-Damosa is definitely a must-visit place!

Another reason to look forward to is the fact that Dimyum changes its menu every six months. This August, they are set to introduce exciting dishes that will surely appeal to food lovers.
