LOS ANGELES -- Airspoken took the Philippines by storm when it covered Up Dharma Down’s hit song "Tadhana."
The video, posted on Facebook, accumulated almost seven million views, mostly from the Philippines, in just a matter of days. The video has been shared on popular Filipino pages like Tee Radio and Filipino Vines, and has been featured on ABS-CBN’s Mga Kwento ni Marc Logan.
Asked about the success of the video, singer Justin Bernardez said, “It’s overwhelming to see the amount of love we’ve received from the Philippines.”
“In a country with so much musical talent, I’m flattered that the our video was recognized and shared on a national level,” added Eli Mayfield.
It has been three weeks since the release of the Tadhana cover and Airspoken, on Tuesday, July 11, released another mash-up that included two Filipino songs: Yeng Constantino's "Ikaw" and Rivermaya's "214."
“It can be a scary thing to sing in a different language. We know we have American accents, so trying to hide it is nearly impossible. We just want to bring justice to great music and share it with our fans both in the USA and in the Philippines,” said singer Anthony Vazquez.
Airspoken is anxious to visit the Philippines. Its members plan to spend 10 days performing free shows in malls across the country. Its management team is still reaching out to sponsors, hoping to make the Philippine tour possible as early as mid August.
