THE King of Hearts (TKH) left nothing for others as they swept two titles in the Artillery Foundation of the Philippines Incorporated (AFPI)-backed 2017 National Blitz and Rapid Chess Team Championships-Mindanao Leg held at the NCCC Mall Davao Kadayawan Hall.

TKH, powered by Bince Omal Medina of the National University (NU), Nazario Ubanan of Cagayan de Oro City and Paul John Lauron of Manila outclassed fellow 10-pointer M. Sacar Custom Brokers (MSCB) via tiebreaks to annex the rapid title and the P25,000 top prizeof "Push Pawns not Drugs"-themed chessfest sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

The MSCB placed second instead and received P15,000.

Trailing behind were Winrar (9.0), Unilab (9.0) and Justice for Seafarers (8.0).

John Ray Batucan (5.0) of Guevarra Law Defenders topped board one while Lyndon Sombilon (5.0) of Unilab and Lauron (6.0) of TKH led boards two and three, respectively.

TKH, however, doubled its feat after scoring a total of 12 match points to clinch the blitz title over Joden Coal Team (11), MSCB (10), Justice for Seafarers (10) and Mode Chess Wizards (9.0).

TKH went home with P12,000 and a trophy while the next four placers got P9,000, P6,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively.

Mohamad Sacar (7.0) of MSCB clinched the board one title while Nazario (7.0) of TKH ruled board two and Rodrigo Catayas (7.0) of Winrar bested over his board three rivals.
