Kadayawan budget not yet final

THE Kadayawan Executive Committee is still waiting for the for the project proposals of different event committees to finalize the festival's budget.

Davao City Adminstrator lawyer Zuleika Lopez said they currently have a trust fund of P13 million for this year, but it is still expected to increase with additional sponsors coming in.

“It is yet to be finalized because project proposals from different committees were not yet forwarded. We are still expecting them to submit within the month,” she said.

Generose Tecson, official Kadayawan spokesperson, said they are still putting together the budget.

“It will be between P18 million to P19 million for all of the activities that we have. Sa city meron kaming budget na P4 million and meron ding savings from the past Kadayawan na P13 million," she said.

A total of 19 activities were slated for this year’s 32nd Kadayawan celebration, which includes the Kadayawan Village, Hiyas ng Kadayawan, Subang Sinugdanan ug Panagtagbo (Fluvial Float Parade), Hiyas ng Kadayawan, Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan, Sayaw Kadayawan, Tunog Kadayawan , Pamulak sa Kadayawan.

New competitions were also launched for the Kadayawan this year which includes Habi Kadayawan, Kadayawan Inspired professional fashion completion; Mugna Kadayawan, a Kadayawan inspired art competition; Kaondayawan, a food street entertainment with 60 food stalls; Pitik sa Kadayawan, a drum beating competition which highlights the Indigenous people of Davao were named are among the newest competitions to be introduced as additional events this year.
