Man takes Cebu vendor hostage

A SIDEWALK vendor sustained multiple wounds after she was held hostage by a man at P. del Rosario St., Cebu City, on Sunday, July 9.

Police Officer 2 Artemio Hernandez of Carbon Police Station said the incident happened at 8:56 p.m. when the suspect, Raymond Cabanillas Briones, 34, held hostage Ame Almenras Collamat, 57.

Before the incident, Briones grabbed a six-year-old boy, son of another sidewalk vendor. The boy was able to escape though, as he ran to his father.

The suspect tried to stab them, but failed.

Briones then walked toward Collamat and strangled her while she was holding a nine-inch kitchen knife.
