Rosevale to field 6 teams in Carmen Fiesta boot fest

CAGAYAN de Oro’s football powerhouse Rosevale School Uptown will field in six teams in Carmen Fiesta Football tourney here tomorrow at Westridge Sports Park in Barangay Carmen, in front the Country Village Hotel.

According to head coach Dennis Bongocan, Rosevale has been preparing since the last summer holidays and will compete with its two teams in the Boys 18 Under, 12 Under and one team each in the Boys 14 Under, and Boys 10 Under.

This, even as Bongocan has cancelled their participation in the Girls 18 division as their girls team has just started training only recently.

Cagayan de Oro City Vice Mayor Kikang Uy will lead the ceremonial kick off with officials of the Magis Football Club headed by tournament organizer Don Deriquito.

Uy is a supporter of football having three nieces playing the sport with the Higala Football Club. His father Klarex Uy was once the Bgry. chairman of Carmen while his mother Lorna is the current chairperson.

Barangay Carmen councilor Jerry Sabanal will also do the ceremonial kick off with Kikang and other officials of the local FA MOCAGESCO RFA.

Some 108 teams in the 8 Under (2009), 10 Under (2007), 12 Under (2005) 14Under (2003), 18 Under Girls (1999), 18 Under Boys (1999), men’s open and women’s open divisions have signed up for the tournament.

Competition in the Men’s and Women’s Open categories will be on Sunday while the rest will be on Saturday. The first match is at 8 a.m. while the opening ceremony is set at 7:30 a.m.

Winners will get trophies and medals.

The Opus Dei run Rosevale School is one of the smallest private schools in CdeO but is one of the few schools that maintain a football program.

The school has four coaches, teaching the beautiful game in its Physical Education curriculum.

Other teams competing are Higala FC, New Camp FC, M Kids, Xavier University, Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, Magis FC, Bulua Strikers, West City Central School, Lurugan Lions FC, Gingoog FC, Monte Carlon, Corpus Christi School, AMU A Kids, El Salvador, Opol FC, LDCU, Holy Cross, Salay NHS, First Fruits Academy, ICFC, Alubijid FC, Artus FC, Bonakid-CMU, ICFC, Gors FC, FSUU, Celestial FC, Eng’g Warriors, Unido FC, Federal FC, USTP, MPL, Code Blue, Hillsiders, Marawi FC, FC Valencia, Concentrix FC, Curtel FC, Sanado Gang FC and Surposa Cowboys.
