Disability prevention week's activities lined up

THE Regional Committee on Disability Affairs, in coordination with the Zamboanga City Social Welfare and Development Office, is finalizing preparations for the observance of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) week.

The NDPR will kick off on July 17 with a motorcade around the city's thoroughfares. The motorcade will end at Centro Latino where the opening program will be held.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar is the guest speaker of the program.

The social welfare office organized Friday, July 14, a training on the new provisions of Republic Act 10754, otherwise known as "An Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)" as part of the celebration.

The other activities will include the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center III Day at City Mall and a whole day mini-olympics for PWDs at Tebby and Sean on July 19.

The villages of Sta. Maria, San Roque and Boalan will also have their NDPR activities.

This year's celebration has a theme: "Karapatan ng Pribiliheyo ng Maykapansanan: Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban!" (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
