200 stakeholders eyed to join Sports Tourism Forum

SOME 200 stakeholders are expected to participate in the Sports Tourism Forum 2017 in July 25 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City.

Cindy Cruz of the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) bared this in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall Davao B3 Family Room.

She said, "Participants are those from different sports associations, tourism sector like hotels and resorts, schools, local government units, civic and professional clubs and transportation companies, among others."

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Wanda Teo, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William "Butch" Ramirez and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will grace the opening ceremonies of the one-day event wherein the 2nd Sports Tourism Awards will also be launched by its founder Charles Lim.

DOT regional director Robby Alabado will tackle the "Dynamics of Sports Tourism" while Sunrise Events, Incorporated general manager Princess Galura will discuss "Managing a Sports Event" and Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) director of development Matthew Cullen will talk about "The Rise of Rugby Football Through Sports Tourism".

Other topics include a "Case Study: Hobie Challenge by the Philippine Inter-Island Sailing Federation"; "Is Davao Ready for Sports Tourism?" by SDD-CMO officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera; and "Role of Media in Promoting Sports Tourism" by Fox Networks Group Philippines general manager Jude Turcuato.

Registration fee is P1,500 inclusive of one lunch, two snacks, forum kit and certificate.
