Cebuano painters raise funds for fellow artist who’s ill

AN art exhibit by Cebuano artists under the name Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines Inc (Paspi) has been put up at the Cebu City Museum to raise funds for a fellow Cebuano artist who is ill.

The exhibit will run until the second week of August. It features the work of Mar Vidal, Clint Normandia, Carly Florido, Jess Najaroo, Pempe Ybañez, Efren Enolva, MarloneYlanan, J.M. Picornell, Boy Briones, Jess Dinglasa, Luther Galicano, and Maxcel Migallos.

The organizers opted to withhold the name of the sick artist for privacy’s sake.

The paintings’ prices are reduced so that more people can buy them. The paintings are priced at P4,500 to P40,000 each.

Bryner Diaz, museum administrator, said that the Cebu City Museum provided the space for the exhibit to support Paspi’s initiative.

An Australian bought two paintings last Monday before the exhibit officially opened.

Diaz said there are 14 paintings on display now. More paintings will be added next week. (USJ-R Intern Angel Mae Bellita)
