Champ joins Cobra Ironman

THE three-time Ironman World champion and two-time Ironman 70.3 World champion Craig “Crowie” Alexander will join the 2015 Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Cebu.

Alexander will be one of the thousands of triathletes trooping to the Queen City of the South to race in the Ironman 70.3 Philippines on Aug. 2 covering the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Talisay and Cebu.

Princess Galura, the project director of Sunrise Events Inc (SEI), the group behind Ironman Philippines, relayed Alexander’s participation to Sun.Star Cebu.

Galura said this will be the first time for Alexander to race in Philippines. He was in Subic last March but did not race.

Galura said that this year’s edition will have more than 2,500 entries in the professional, Filipino elite, age group and relay categories.

“(Right now) we have 2,549 entries but there are still those who want to sign up so I think it will reach 2,620,” she said.

Other professional triathletes joining the event are Nick Baldwin, Sam Betten, Cameron Brown, Clayton Fettell, Justin Granger, Peter Jacobs, Luke Mckenzie, Michael Murphy, Tim Reed, Tim Van Berkel and last year’s men’s champion Brent Mcmahon of Canada.
